Intersolar 2011, Munich – New from DEGERenergie: heated wind monitor available on the Canadian market and worldwide in June

For some time now, DEGERenergie solar tracking systems have also conquered regions with extreme weather conditions. For example in Canada, where the Horb-based company has already delivered several thousand systems, the winters are quite often characterized by extremely low temperatures and snow storms. At the request of its Canadian customers and installation partners, DEGERenergie has now developed a wind monitor which still functions reliably at 40 degrees (Celsius) below zero. The wind monitor causes the solar modules to automatically move to a horizontal position during heavy storms, so that the surface exposed to the wind is reduced.

CSA/UL certification of the equipment, which is compulsory for all technical products on sale on the American and Canadian market, is pending. Approval is scheduled for May, so that the new wind monitor will be deliverable as of June.

„With this novelty, we are further increasing the safety of our systems even under winter conditions as they can be found in Nordic countries or in mountain regions“, says Andreas Schwedhelm, Vice President Engineering of DEGERenergie. „Our new heated wind monitor now also works reliably during a heavy storm and at extremely low temperatures.“

DEGERenergie was founded in 1999 by Artur Deger and today is the world market leader in solar tracking systems. Worldwide, more than 35,000 DEGERenergie systems are installed in over 40 countries. The company is represented in Spain, Greece and North America with its own subsidiaries and cooperates with local distribution and service partners in many countries across the world. The patented DEGERenergie Maximum Light Detection (MLD) technology makes it possible to improve the energy yield of solar power plants by up to 45 percent compared to rigid systems.
